Global Training for Guardian Angels

At the 30th Anniversary Conference in New York, Curtis Sliwa said of our program, “I’ve seen their program. It’s top shelf. It’s 5 Stars. It’s as good as it gets.”

It’s time to bring the Guardian Angels together as a professionally trained team that can work together on a moment’s notice, anywhere in the world.
At the 2010 World Conference, Curtis Sliwa said, “It’s important that we finally stabilize our training, and create an international mode …”
When I first joined up with the Guardian Angels, I was just interested in having a chance to train with some like-minded folks who wanted to make a difference. I was pleasantly surprised when the Los Angeles Chapter asked to train with me at my training academy.
A couple of years later, when founder Curtis Sliwa and I discussed an online training program for the Guardian Angels, it was at first my expectation that it would be something we would just share with the leaders and trainers in the organization. In fact, many of them probably remember the email I sent out early-on to get their feedback, to make sure we all worked together on this.
It was an even BIGGER surprise, when Curtis asked us to make our program national, and then even bigger. I had a great conversation in Tokyo with our International Coordinator, Keiji Oda. He and Curtis both wanted to make sure that this program would focus on reducing legal liabilities for the organization, while still being effective for our Safety Patrol members in the streets.
I’m excited about it, and I look forward to seeing the organization grow in every way. There’s no way I can begin to mention what a big deal this is for me – to be able to contribute to the organization that I consider so important. I hope you’ll be able to be a part of this and grow together with us.
